Facial asymmetry is disfigurement that results from abnormal facial bone growth, trauma, or improper habits. All people have certain degree of facial asymmetry, but when the degree is significantly severe, it is diagnosed as an asymmetric face.
In cases of facial asymmetry with normal teeth occlusion
The asymmetry is relatively easy to correct by performing facial contour surgery.
In cases of facial asymmetry accompanied with teeth malocclusion
Jaw surgery may be needed to correct the asymmetry. Also when there is obvious asymmetry in the soft tissues additional procedure including fat transplantation and rhinoplasty may be need for a more ideal and aesthetic result
